About

Using observations and found materials from her urban surroundings, Maud van Baar de Knegt transforms the everyday into poetic propositions. She brings discarded objects into the studio and stacks, paints, layers, balances, cuts, deforms, juxtaposes, reconfigures, and suspends them into installations, sculptures, and performances.

Tensions between materials, space, and form become an attempt to navigate contradictory emotional landscapes: through disclosure and concealment, balance and collapse, distance and closeness, familiar and unfamiliar, solid and ephemeral. This negotiation between forces, almost touching, almost failing, can feel close to life itself; tender, charged, and precarious.
